Bad luck took his sight. With hope and humour, my brother didn’t let it take more.
Based on real events in Minnesota, the book follows Mike as he adjusts to declining sight, attends a school for blind adults, and finds practical ways to rebuild an independent life. The story gives equal room to difficulty, resilience, friendship, and a distinctly mischievous sense of humour.

About
Steven is a writer and long-distance cyclist whose work often begins where a carefully made plan meets an inconvenient reality. He has completed extended bicycle journeys across the United States and Britain, as well as rides through France, Belgium, Canada, and other parts of North America and Europe. Those journeys have supplied landscapes, generous strangers, setbacks, and rather more hills than strictly necessary.
His creative writing explores how people adapt when illness, disability, or uncertainty changes the route ahead. Before concentrating more fully on writing, Steven taught and worked in learning technology at St George’s, University of London, and at universities in the United States. He holds a PhD in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University.
